Coffee!
have a cup
Life is too short to put up with a bad cup of coffee!
Those who know me know that it won't be long before I'm looking for my next cup. Not just any coffee. It has to be PRIMO coffee (and that does include certain Starbucks roasts such as 3-Region Blend and Galapagos Reserve).
Mostly, I am a steady consumer of Peet's Coffees. It is at Peet's that I find my favorite roasts that include Uzuri African Blend, Sumatra Blue Batak, and a recent special Kenya GiaKanja Micro-lot. Catch them on Twitter @Peets_Tweets.
Fortunately, I live close enough to a Peet's to go in person. In the Boston area there are 5 shops, the closet to me would be in Newton. I was really surprised that there is not one single shop in all of New York State! You can buy in the supermarket, but we aficianados know that is simply not good enough.
Instead of drinking giant 16-20 ounce cups, I prefer a shorter cup with more frequency, like a 6-ounce cup 4 or more times per day. It's fresher, hotter, and a more steady infusion of caffeine.
I usually do not have iced coffee, and I NEVER add anything to the brew. It has to be STRAIGHT UP BLACK, that's it. Otherwise, it's impossible to taste the product. Being into coffee is much like being into wine. Coffee snob? Sure, use the label, I don't care.
Just give me a fresh grind, filtered water, and a nice mug, and the rest will take care of itself.
