Condo Trustee
What? You're on the Condo Board? Are you nuts??
Yes, I was! I served for 6 years with the last 3 as the chairman.
This was actually a very rewarding (albeit difficult) position. The pay was lousy, the responsibility was great, and sometimes I went home wondering why I wanted to do this at all. Here is the answer: To grow and learn as a person, and to protect everyone's investment in their property.
Being on the board meant doing what is right for the condo; not what's popular. Sometimes I had to vote in the best interest of the group even if the vote was a disadvantage to me personally. I also had to keep in mind the weakest members of the group as we decided what to do about X, Y and Z.
It was a thankless job, although one way or the other, everyone got to know who I am. I don't mind.
